Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain announced – Details and trailer
Hideo Kojima has shown off a new trailer for his upcoming game at GDC 2013. Just like many people have speculated, Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are one and the same game.
Gameplay demonstration:
Here are some details:
- Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes are one and the same thing: Metal Gear Solid V.
- Miller makes a short appearance in the trailer.
- Big Boss has been in a coma for 9 years.
- The trailer is run real time on the Fox Engine.
- The part where Snake wakes up from his coma, as seen in The Phantom Pain trailer, serves as a tutorial for the game.
- The tutorial is a more linear segment to get familiar with the controls, the rest of the game is open world.
- Big Boss seems to have a mechanical arm, similar to the one of Zadornov in MGS: Peace Walker
- Another thing to note is that Snake didn’t seem to be voiced by David Hayter, or Richard Doyle. It sounds like a new voice actor.

Raised more questions than answers! Pretty cool nonetheless.
david hayter’s twitter kind of confirms he’s not in it.
All questions will be answered =/= All answers will be questioned…
I still don’t understand why the narrow tutorial part looks worse than the open world part…
OCELOT! and by the way, was that young Mantis?
If You Want David Hayter in MGS5, support the petition:

what if big boss and solid snake meet in this game and hayter isn’t voicing big boss for the same reasons as MGS4, because two david hayters talking to one another would sound silly, and they’re continuing to misinform us and hayter is in on it and it’s supposed to be a plot twist of cameo of some sort. i’m supporting that petition just in case though.
Hayter hasn’t been reached out yet. He probably isn’t in the game altogether, which is a real disappointment if you ask me.

what’s up with his forehead at the end? It looks like a horn is growing from his head.
No Hayter sucks, but overall the game looks really amazing. Day 1 for me!
